850 films from 72 countries have been entered for the four competitions of our festival, with the majority of 500 short documentaries submitted on the filmmakers‘ own initiative. The 71 long documentaries, by contrast, have come our way solely through invitations from our curators. More than 200 of the films came from Germany. Numerous submissions were also registered from Russia (103), Spain (88), France (79) and Iran (70). A total of 31 films came from the US. For the last few weeks, our team of curators have been looking through all those submissions in order to choose the contenders which will be bundled into our programme in August.
The 16th Provinziale starts on 12 October. The venue, as usual, will be the Paul Wunderlich Haus in Eberswalde.
