Dimo, a forester in a Bulgarian mountain village, is used to wielding his authority in order to protect the state forest he fosters and guards from being damaged. But wood is a resource coveted by many: as firewood by the poorest of the village as well as by the mayor, who, logging illegally, wants to get more out of the forest than Dimo can approve. When Dimo witnesses an illegal wood transport, he is confronted with his helplessness.

Hristo Simeonov graduated in film direction from South-West University of Neofit Rilski in Bulgaria with a master‘s degree in 2013. His short films are screened in Clermont, Tampere, Dresden, Triest, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Bilbao etc. Hristo‘s short film The Son won the Short Film Award at Cottbus IFF in 2016 and 15 more international prizes.

When Hendrik and Annelies announce their plans to leave the family home, Alex has to face up to the things that worry him. Obviously, he is fighting a struggle with his real self.

On New Year‘s Eve, 19-year-old Xiaoyu comes home to his family in the Chinese town of Ganzu. He is uneasy about it because he has won a medal at his kung fu school which he wants to present to his mother. But she always wanted him to go to a ‘real‘ college. During dinner, Xiaoyu performs a kung fu routine for his family. When his mother is still unimpressed, he has to find other ways to reconcile with her.

Twenty-year-old Wolf, who lives in a boxers‘ village in the Netherlands, refuses the weekly fight against his best friend Alexander because he has been secretly in love with him for years. Alexander has feelings for Wolf, too, but takes a pragmatic stance which makes him part of the village‘s fighting culture. Their return fight has been confirmed to take place. Wolf tries to convince Alexander to leave the village with him but his romantic message is spoken against a brick wall.

A boy is abducted to a place in the middle of the desert where he is to be trained as a camel rider to win races. With much empathy, the film shows how he, still a child, struggles through his tough training in the hope that he will see his mother again some day.

Chabname Zariâb was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 1982 and emigrated to France with her parents at the age of seven. She grew up in a very literary environment, studied law in Paris, then real estate management, and eventually became an insurance adjuster. In 2011, Chabname published her firsat novel, The Afghan Pianist, which was awarded several literary prizes. Having produced her second short film, L‘enfant chameau (The Camel Boy), she is now preparing another short film and writing her first full-length work.

Meerim Dogdurbekova was born in the region of Balykchy Issyk-kul in January 1994. She graduated from №4 Balykchy High School in 2011 and was admitted at the faculty of communication, department of radio, TV and cinema, of the Kirghiz-Turkish Manas university the same year. She graduated there in June 2016.

She has more important things to do. After a land consolidation, boundaries have to be redrawn and properties must be merged. Lola is flooded with memories and unfulfilled aspirations. Meanwhile, Ana, puzzled and trying to understand what‘s happening, gets entangled in a variety of paths to happiness.
