A dog breaks out of his kennel and leaps into the open, hunting through a scenery marked by human appropriation, crossing electric lines and traffic routes. His seemingly endless leash lets him reach out a long way. Then finally, he has gained enough ground for the line to dissolve and release him into freedom.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in drawing at The Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels, and a stint at The School of Graphic Research in Comics / Videos, Nicolas Piret continued his studies with a Master’s degree in animation cinema at ENSAV La Cambre, where he directed his first short animated movie, La bride.

Omid, a family man and immigrant, is trying to establish himself in Paris. However, he doesn't seem to have a heart. "In and out, everything starts and ends with a heart. It's the most important organ," his little daughter says. So Omid sets out for a surreal hunt for his lost heart, which eventually leads him back to Iran, his former homeland. Organ trade is covered only marginally.

Director, graphic author, script writer. She graduated from Tehran University of Art and later from la Poudrière (France) in 2011, as a director of animation films. Sarah Saidan has since directed many short films often with the common theme of Human Rights, notably the award-winning Beach Flags, produced by Sacrebleu Productions.

Midyan is fleeing from his war-torn country. He packs his bag with the only souvenirs he has from his family and goes on a trip into the unknown. But soon, unbearably hungry, he is forced to eat up his beloved possessions. The consequences are both monstrous and beneficial.

Antoine Antabi was born in Damascus in 1983 and graduated from University of Fine Arts there. In 2006 he earned a diploma in stop-motion animation. After leaving Syria, he lived in Dubai and Lebanon. Since 2019 he is based in Leipzig, where he works as a graphics designer and photographer and makes stop-motion films as a sideline.

Nothing to do with love - some people just stick to those who beat them, watch or look away. The film visualises domestic abuse as a constant threat to the body and spirit of those desperate women unable to break free of the cruel social ties that hold them captives. Cases of domestic abuse have increased by 9.3% in Germany this year, a survey of the ministry of the interior says, citing only reported offences.

Varya Yakovleva is an artist, illustrator, director of animation from Russia. Has three National Animation Awards, and she is a participant and an award-winner at international festivals of animation, cinematography and illustration. Graduated from the Art faculty of Russian State University of Cinematography and from the faculty of directors of animation at School-studio SHAR, Russia.

One of the cruelest reprisals of the East German leadership was to react to criticism of the government with taking away people's children. This way, eleven-year-old Alex gets caught in the wheels of reformatory institutions that want to reeducate him as a 'socialist personality'. After trying to escape, he is committed to the ill-famed Torgau closed-door workhouse, where military drill and violence prevail. This multi-award-winning documentary tells Alex's story in a mixture of commented collage and drawings.

Like the goat that stood on its pasture until just now. A colourful and creative essay on the mystery of cause and effect which imbues even an ordinary school day with auspicious marvels.

Gerhard Funk graduated in media arts and design from Saar University of Visual Arts in 2010 and then had various employments as a 3D artist and motion graphics designer. In 2020 he took on a position as artist fellow at Burg Giebichenstein University of the Arts in Halle, Germany. Since 2008, he has continually worked on his own animated short films.
