Both musicians have been working together in Holly’s UNIQUE ensemble for some years and have also performed as a duo occasionally. Benjamin Geyer is an active part of Berlin’s jazz and improvisation scene. His projects vary between jazz, improvisation and electronic music, and he looks back on concert tours in Germany, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Norway.
SAT 12 Oct Opening concert
HOLLY SCHLOTT (saxophone) BENJAMIN GEYER (electronics)
SUN 13 Oct / THU 17 Oct
HOLLY SCHLOTT KLANGREISE / SOLO SAX
In April 2020, after the first Covid lockdown, Holly Schlott began a personal musical journey in the Petruskirche church in Berlin Lichterfelde in order to keep her balance and counteract the experience of being thrown out of work in this completely novel way. Just a momentary idea at first, it evolved into a series of about 30 meditations for solo saxophone, performed at 6 pm every day.
MON 14 Oct - FAVO 2 – "The smallest grooving band in Berlin“
Falk Breitkreuz (bass clarinet), Holly Schlott (soprano saxophone)
The two musicians have been playing as a duo since 2009 and were joined by Sander de Winne, acrobat singer from Belgium, later on.
„Heartwarming music that emerges from a dance of two breathtaking woodwind instruments – music from and for the world!“
TUE 15 Oct - FEINCOST - Reinmar Henschke (piano), Holly Schlott (C melodica)
These two musician friends have known each other since the early days of East German jazz and have been touring with grand ladies like Ulla Meinecke, Nina Hagen, Jocelyn B. Smith and Julia Neigel.
But they have also enjoyed playing as a duo for many years, and their current programme is named “Feincost plays Songs of Abdullah Ibrahim”.
WED 16 Oct - LINA PETERS (saxophone), ARNO GRUSSENDORF (guitar)
Lina Peters from Berlin commands an extensive repertoire on the saxophone and knows how to enchant an audience with her selection of jazz, swing and pop music pieces. Besides Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Glenn Miller, these include works by artists such as Bruno Mars and Coldplay. Holly Schlott was among Lina’s mentors when she studied at Jazz-Institut Berlin.
FRI 18 Oct - HOLLY SCHLOTT (saxophone), ORLANDO DE BOYEKENS (tuba)
These two musicians will be performing as a duo for the first time. They both have similar backgrounds in transgender identity, and Orlando has been a fixture in Holly’s UNIQUE ensemble from the very beginning.
SAT 19 Oct - Closing event - HOLLY SCHLOTT + CRAIG LEES (the universal keyboard octopus)
Craig has been known for his spontaneity on the stage. “You never know where he’s heading” is a quotation heard from many musicians who accompany his performances regularly.
His own motto is “Never play it the same.” He has acquired a reputation of playing music for musicians and the respect of major figures from the jazz scene and entertainment industry. When Holly Schlott met Craig at a studio colleague’s private party, she fell in love with his incredible voice and musical variety and has remained an adorer ever since.
