Day 4 of the 18th PROVINZIALE
With the almost two hours that the Spanish documentary CAMAGROGA reached, we experienced the high point of our festival yesterday in quantitative terms: the film tells a story of the ghostly effects of suburbanization on an 800-year-old agricultural culture on the outskirts of Valencia. In the competition for the short documentary we were happy to have visitors again: Veronika Peat and David Mapp had come from England and the Isle of Man to present their film BLASTY. In addition, the jury meeting for the special STACHEL award took place, so that we now have a first winner – but of course we will not reveal him. Thomas Winkelkotte also spoke to our translators and voice actors Kathrin Welke and Florian Wolf about the broad field of good subtitles, about the perception of films with foreign and native language subtitles and about the philosophy of good translations.
