Laureate 2024 – Jury and Audience have decided

The award-winning films of the 21st PROVINZIALE – Eberswalde Film Festival are:

“THE PRICKLE” special award

The jury prize “THE PRICKLE / DER STACHEL” for the most successful examination of the sustainability theme went to

  • PIG  (Niederlande) von JORN LEEUWERINK

2,000 euros donated by the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development and the Barnim District Utility Company

In each of the four individual competitions, two audience awards were up for grabs – a thistle for the most relevant genre contribution to the Provinziale and a rose for the strongest emotional appeal in the respective competition.

In the short film category, exactly one film thrilled the audience this time

  • Rose und Distel für NA ŻYWO / LIVE (Polen) of Mara Tamkovich

1,000 euros each donated by Sparkasse Barnim

Audience award short documentary film

In the short documentary category, two films particularly captured the hearts of the audience:

  • Rose für MARX HÖRT AUF (Deutschland) by Antje Hubert
  • Distel für FATA MORGANA (Deutschland, Syrien) by Daood Alabdulaa

1,000 euros each donated by the mayor of the city of Eberswalde

Jury Award documentary film

As always, many films in the long documentary category thrilled our audience, but two stood out this year:

  • Rose für  I AM FINE BUT (Deutschland) von Marc Sebastian Eils
  • Distel für GERLACH (Niederlande) von Aliona van der Horst und Luuk Bouwman

2,000 euros each donated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of the State of Brandenburg

The 21st Provinziale comes to an end with great films, inspiring musical accompaniment and a loyal audience. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors who make this event possible year after year. A total of €12,000 in prize money will be awarded.
