Before the cameras of this world could show the football matches of the World Cup in Qatar, the backdrop for this spectacle had to be created. We accompany Abu Husain in his lorry and stand with him for days in the queue to transport materials to the construction sites. He is one of many migrant workers in Qatar who see no prospects in their home country. His everyday life consists of waiting. Waiting for the horn of the next lorry to wake him up and allow him to move a few metres further forward in the queue.

Daood Alabdulaa was born in the Syrian desert in 1994. He studied Electrical Engineering and directed theater plays in Aleppo. After escaping to Germany in 2014 he continued his studies in Karlsruhe. Since 2020, he has been studying Directing at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) and devotes most of his films to social issues from the Middle East.

Children from Ukraine now live in former barracks of the German Wehrmacht from the Nazi era. These were used by the US army for almost 70 years after the end of the Second World War. The refugees are housed here. A small part of the children's lives is shown in calm images. We follow them on a summer's day as they play, ride their bikes, snack on cherries or weave wreaths of hair from flowers. Far away from the war, they can explore their surroundings undisturbed, at the site of former war preparations, and cross borders in the process.
